SMSM Therapy is a private sports injury clinic on Station Road in Bromley, a three-minute walk from Shortlands station. This page covers exactly where we are, how to find the entrance, where to park and what happens when you arrive, so your first visit is straightforward.

Where to find us

The clinic is at Carlton Chambers, 5 Station Road, Bromley BR2 0EY. We are at the rear of the Carlton Chambers building, and the entrance most people miss on their first visit is the red side gate on the right-hand side of the building. Walk through it and follow the path round to the clinic door.

If you are standing in front of Carlton Chambers looking for a main reception, you are in the right place but at the wrong door. Look to your right for the red gate. If you cannot see it, call 07896 257328 and we will come out and meet you.

Getting here from Shortlands station

Shortlands station is a three-minute walk from the clinic, straight along Station Road. That makes SMSM Therapy easy to reach from across Bromley and from the surrounding areas we regularly see patients from, including Beckenham, Bickley, Hayes, Petts Wood and Chislehurst.

Parking

Free parking is usually available on our road near Queensmead Park, and there are paid bays nearer the start of Station Road. Parking is easier outside school pick-up times. If you are driving and running late, ring ahead rather than rushing; we would rather adjust than have you arrive flustered.

Opening hours

  • Monday to Friday: 10am to 6pm
  • Saturday: 10am to 5pm
  • Sunday: closed

Appointments are booked in advance rather than taken as walk-ins, so please book online or call before coming down.

What happens at your first appointment

Your first visit starts with a consultation rather than a treatment table. We take a full case history: what happened, how long it has been going on, what makes it better or worse, what you have already tried, and what you actually need to get back to, whether that is running, lifting, a desk job or simply sleeping through the night.

From there the therapist assesses how you move, and where relevant carries out a posture analysis to identify asymmetries that may be feeding the problem. Treatment then usually combines hands-on work such as sports massage, deep tissue massage or spinal manipulation, and you leave with an exercise programme so the change holds between appointments.

Quoted appointment times include that brief consultation and time to change, not just the hands-on portion.

What to wear and bring

  • Comfortable clothing you can move in. Shorts and a vest or t-shirt are ideal, particularly for lower limb problems.
  • Any scan results, letters or notes from previous treatment, if you have them to hand.
  • Nothing else. You do not need a referral to book with us.
